Gail Folwell
There is an elusive tipping point in the creation of anything that is not the result of what, but how and why we create, that imbues it with the power to transform the way we think and feel.
I have many voices and messages but all of them stem from the same fundamental belief: a call to heal the planet with the positive effects of human connection and potential. My vision is to unite people, campuses, cities, and ideally our 7.53 billion fellow humans with interpretive, relatable, and moving art experiences; Art to inspire, teach and heal. My public art, while fundamentally figurative, is contemporary, non-traditional, and abstracted to powerfully convey an energy. It is by virtue of abstraction inclusive and nonspecific regarding race, religion and era. Sculptures are to be experienced in the round, engaging viewers from every direction with views that captivate the imagination whether seen as a distant silhouette, or up close in full detail. Landmark public art is relatable and created with concepts that beg inquiry. Thought provoking art never tires - it unfolds gradually with repeated visits. It prompts people to take ownership and share with a sense of pride. This is a balance I excel at and one that is represented in all of my previous works. My art is timeless, memorable, place-making and inimitable.
